At the University Hospital Centre Zagreb, a ceremonial handover of modern medical equipment took place on Thursday. The equipment was acquired as part of the humanitarian campaign “Donate a Heartbeat of Life,” aimed at improving diagnostics and care for children with congenital heart defects. This initiative strongly demonstrates how unity, solidarity, and social responsibility can make a tangible contribution to the quality of healthcare for the most vulnerable patient groups.
The humanitarian campaign was organized by the association Veliko srce malom srcu in cooperation with Dinamo’s foundation “Nema predaje,” with the support of athletes, partners, and numerous citizens whose contributions made this valuable project possible.
Thanks to the funds raised, the hospital has been equipped with state-of-the-art medical devices that will significantly enhance diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, further improving the level of care for children with congenital heart conditions.
“We are grateful for this valuable donation, which once again demonstrated the unity and strength of everyone involved. These devices will significantly improve the quality of work and care for children in our department, which receives patients from all over Croatia, often with serious health conditions. High-quality monitoring in such cases is crucial for life, and these are devices selected by experts who recognized their top-level quality. Many thanks to the Nema predaje Foundation and everyone who participated in this campaign,” said Dr. Daniel Dilber, Head of the Department of Cardiology at the Clinic for Pediatrics.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the association Veliko srce malom srcu—President Dr. Dražen Belina and Vice President Mirela Dežman—as well as representatives of Dinamo’s foundation Nema predaje: Ivan Kelava, member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors and coaching staff member of GNK Dinamo’s first team, and Tomislav Šokota, member of GNK Dinamo’s scouting department and ambassador of the humanitarian campaign.
“Many thanks to Dinamo and its Foundation for this commendable initiative, and especially for giving our children the opportunity to participate in matches and walk onto the pitch alongside professional players. Such moments are priceless for them and remain lifelong memories. The opportunity for our children to experience this is the greatest value of this campaign, as it gives them a sense of belonging, joy, and strength to move forward,” said Dr. Dražen Belina, President of the Veliko srce malom srcu association.
Representatives of Dinamo and the Nema predaje Foundation, Ivan Kelava and Tomislav Šokota, also addressed the media.
“Everything achieved through this initiative is valuable and commendable. As members of Dinamo and the Nema predaje Foundation, we are extremely proud to take part in such actions and help our youngest. We have managed to provide equipment that will be used daily and will directly facilitate care and treatment, which we consider both an honor and a responsibility. As a club and foundation, we are delighted to be doing such important work for the community, and we believe this is just one of many actions to come. We are especially pleased to offer children unforgettable experiences such as walking onto the pitch and socializing,” they stated.
This donation represents a significant step forward in the further development of pediatric and cardiology care and once again highlights the importance of synergy between the healthcare system, civil society, and sports organizations in achieving a common goal—a better and higher-quality life for children.
The organizers and partners thank everyone who participated in the “Donate a Heartbeat of Life” campaign and contributed to creating concrete and long-term improvements in the treatment of children with congenital heart defects.
